Donald Trump is a man who lets no bit of criticism, no matter how small it may be, go unanswered. The President’s Twitter accounts is filled with responses to people who have wrong him in one way or another.
With Robert Mueller set to testify before Congress on July 17th, Trump and his administration are making sure he has to opportunity to respond. According to the Huffington Post, the President will hold a rally in Greenville, North Carolina the on the same day as the former Special Prosecutors testimony.
The benefit of holding the rally is two pronged for Trump and his administration. Not only will the speech allow Trump to attack claims that may come up during the hearing, it will also potentially pull cable news coverage away from discussing what Mueller had to say.
Earlier this week, Trump both slammed Mueller’s investigation and warned him about his testimony. The President took to Twitter to write, “Robert Mueller is being asked to testify yet again. He said he could only stick to the Report, & that is what he would and must do. After so much testimony & total transparency, this Witch Hunt must now end. No more Do Overs. No Collusion, No Obstruction. The Great Hoax is dead!”
Mueller appears ready to explain the findings of his report to Congress. He will, however, do so very carefully. The former Special Counsel will most definitely be asked about this statement he delivered in a May press conference:
“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime.”
