Trump Retweets Conspiracies Blaming Epstein Suicide On Clintons, Omits His Own Connections With The Financier
Less than 12 hours after Jeffrey Epstein was found hanged in his jail cell, President Donald Trump was on Twitter, sharing posts from far-right-wing commentators who were peddling in conspiracy theories suggesting there was more to the financier’s passing.
Epstein was in a prison cell awaiting charges of sex trafficking of a minor. He previously pleaded guilty to charges of solicitation of a minor in 2008, and served what many considered a lenient jail sentence, previous reporting from HillReporter.com detailed.
The tweets that Trump shared on Friday presented the bold assertion that former President Bill Clinton and his wife former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton played a hand in Epstein’s death. Trump sent the retweets while on vacation at his Bedminster Club, Raw Story reported.
One of the tweets, from Twitter user Terrence Williams, was a video message. Epstein “had information on the Clinton’s, and the man ended up dead,” Williams said in the video, which Trump retweeted.
There’s no indication at this point that Epstein had any compromising information on the Clintons.
Trump also shared a tweet from an account called BNL News (@BreakingNLive) which was highly suggestive in its content.
“Documents were unsealed yesterday revealing that top Democrats, including Bill Clinton, took private trips to Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘pedophilia island,'” the tweet read.
Again, there’s nothing from the release of court documents on Friday that suggests Clinton did anything criminal. A spokeswoman for the former president denied he had done anything wrong.

“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” the spokeswoman said, per reporting from CNN.
Left out of both tweets that Trump shared, and not mentioned by him later on, were the connections the current president had to Epstein. The two were known to associate with each other frequently, although Trump has said recently that they had a “falling out” years ago.
In the same court documents that were released Friday, it’s detailed that Epstein solicited sexual work from a woman who was working as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago resort in 2000, a property Trump owns. The woman admitted in depositions that she gave Epstein and others massages that were sexual in nature, per reporting from Politico.
Trump once spoke highly of Epstein, and even joined him on occasion at parties featuring younger women, though at those parties the women were the age of adulthood.
Trump spoke highly of Epstein in 2002. “Terrific guy,” he said in an interview, according to the New York Times. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
Video from the early 1990s also showcased how the two partied together, with both men admiring younger women, some of them NFL cheerleaders, from afar before dancing with them, NBC News reported.
More recently, Trump has tried to distance himself from his former friendship with the financier. “I had a falling out with him. I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you,” Trump said earlier this year.
