Trump Promises to Get Involved in ASAP Rocky’s Swedish Detainment
Hip Hop Superstar ASAP Rocky was on a European tour when he was arrested by Swedish officials after an altercation on the street. Stockholm’s District Court has ruled that the rapper will remain in pretrial detention over the next 6 days.
ASAP Rocky has significant support from figures such as Rod Stewart, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Donald Trump has now pledged to get involved in the case and speak with Sweden’s Prime Minister.
The President said he first learned of the rapper’s plight from First Lady, Melania Trump. “Actually, the one who knew about ASAP Rocky was our first lady. She was telling me about, ‘Can you help ASAP Rocky?’” he said.
Trump said that many people have asked him to help,” Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Can you help?’ So, I personally don’t know ASAP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country and when I say African American I think I can really say from everybody in the country because we’re all one.”
The President then took to Twitter to comment on the case. He wrote, “Just spoke to Kanye West about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!”
