Trump Plans on Inviting Boris Johnson to The White House
Many pundits have pointed out that Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has a lot of similarities to Donald Trump. And some of these pundits pointed out that Johnson’s recent electoral win could be a good sign for Trump’s chances in 2020.
The British Prime Minister will have an eventful next few months with his country’s Brexit decision looming. Johnson could also be making a trip to Washington DC and Donald Trump is reportedly expected to extend him an invitation to the White House.
If Johnson is successful in pulling Britain out of the European Union, Trump would like to talk trade. The President recently said, “This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the EU.”
Trump would like for a meeting to happen between the two leaders soon. According to a White House source, “Some potential dates have been floated in mid-January but nothing has yet been formally agreed. But it is clear that both sides want to make it happen some time in early 2020.”
The two men are friends, but Johnson recently asked Trump to refrain from talking about the British election. He told LBC Radio, “We have very close relationships and friendships with the United States at every level of government but what we don’t do traditionally as loving allies and friends is get involved in each other’s election campaigns..”
Johnson was also among the world leaders who mocked the President during the recent NATO summit.
