While doing stories on Donald Trump, CNN often features a Republican surrogate who will support the President. Kayliegh McEnany parlayed this position into a job with the Republican National Committee. Another Trump surrogate often featured on CNN is Steve Cortes, a member of the President’s Hispanic Advisory Council.
The President has reportedly been upset that Cortes has not appeared on the network over the last month. While voicing his displeasure about Cortes’ absence last night, he told New Mexico rally goers that the pundit, “looks more like a WASP than I do.”
Cortes was in the audience last night during Trump’s rally in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The President took the time to point out his former campaign adviser.
Trump said to the crowd, “Another great friend of mine, someone who was on CNN and they didn’t like him because he was too positive on Trump, can you believe it?”
The President then told the crowd, “But I have never quite figured it out, because he looks more like a WASP than I do. I haven’t figured that one out. But I will tell you what, there is nobody that loves his country more or Hispanic more than Steve Cortes.”
Trump continued his odd rant by saying, “Nobody loves the Hispanics more. Who do you like more, the country or the Hispanics? He says the country. I don’t know, I may have to go for the Hispanics, to be honest with you. We got a lot of Hispanics. We love our hispanics. Get out and vote.”
The President ended his rant by taking a shot at CNN. “You were incredible on CNN and now you will get a real job, ok,” said Trump. “Steve, that audience wasn’t big enough for you. Their ratings aren’t good.”
