Last night, the fake threat of Critical Race Theory propelled Glenn Youngkin to victory in the state of Virginia. The state is also dealing with a furor over transgender rights. The issue has been heightened by the arrest of a boy who was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl while wearing a skirt. The boy does not identify as transgender.
Still, Conservatives and Churches in the state have seized on the issue. Weeks back, Pastor John Blanchard spoke out against transgender rights at a Virginia Beach School Board Meeting. Last week, Blanchard was arrested on charges of solicitation of a minor.
According to the Virginian-Pilot Online, “Blanchard, 51, was arrested Friday and charged with felony solicitation of prostitution. The crime carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Blanchard was released on bond. A video from Rock Church shows the longtime pastor participated in a church service there two days later.”
The arrested man’s employer, Rock Church, said in a statement, “As followers of Christ, we must remember that redemption, salvation, grace, mercy and healing are all gifts given to the children of God. Although everyone must address their own convictions and consequences, our assignment as believers is not to condemn, but to be agents of God’s love, healing, justice, and reconciliation.”
Blanchard has temporarily resigned from his post until his legal matters are settled. In 2019, the Pastor signed a letter from Evangelicals leaders supporting Donald Trump.
