Florida megachurch pastor Guillermo Maldonado has made no secret of his love for Donald Trump. The controversial religious leader even held an Evangelicals for Trump event back in January of this year.
Maldonado also wants to make sure the parishioners of his church are attending services despite worries about COVID-19. Over the weekend, the pastor told the service attendees that God would not allow a virus in his house.
The comments from Maldonado were uncovered by the Miami Herald. Fear is a demonic spirit,” he told the crowd. “That’s what the bible says.”
The pastor did note, however, the empty seats. “This service is usually packed. So now they’re home in a cave afraid of the virus, that you want to transmit the virus'” he continued. “If we die, we die for Christ. If we live, we live for Christ, so what do you lose?”
Maldonado also asked, “Do you believe God would bring his people to his house to be contagious with the virus? Of course not.”
The church made sure the proper donations were made as well. Pastor Frank Hechevarria who works with Maldonado, told the parishioners:
“Now is not the time to hold back your giving, now is not the time to hold back you tithe, because if you do that, you could be like one of those who one day had, and now a few weeks later, a few days later, have nothing. Your economy is not the economy of the world. You operate in a higher economy and the economy of the kingdom of God.”
