Trump: Jews That Vote Democrat Are “Disloyal”

Since taking office in 2017, Donald Trump has worked on building a strong relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu recently got involved in United States politics when he barred congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering his country. Critics claim that the Prime Minister had bowed to pressure from Trump.

The President has continually referred to Reps. Omar and Tlaib as Anti-Semitic. Today, he took that message a bit farther claiming that any Jew who supports the Democratic party is being disloyal to their religion.

While discussing the two congresswomen with the press, Trump said, “Any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat — I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”

The President also continued his attack on Rep. Tlaib, tweeting, “Sorry, I don’t buy Rep. Tlaib’s tears. I have watched her violence, craziness and, most importantly, WORDS, for far too long. Now tears? She hates Israel and all Jewish people. She is an anti-Semite. She and her 3 friends are the new face of the Democrat Party. Live with it!”

Trump has recently been making an appeal to Jewish voters. One of the strange aspects of his comments is that very few Jews actually identify as Republicans. According to a March poll conducted by Gallup, only 16% of Jews responded that they are Republicans. 52% identified as Democrats and 31% said that they were Independent.

Tlaib had been critical of Netanyahu for his support of Trump. She said this weekend, “It is unfortunate that Prime Minister Netanyahu has apparently taken a page out of Trump’s book.”
