Donald Trump had friends in the news media prior to his political career. Two of them were prominent MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. The power couple had even been frequent visitors to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
But once Trump began laying waste to the country, Scarborough and Brzezinski had no recourse but to call him out on it. And, obviously, this enraged the former president to no end. And apparently, Trump is still mad about the frequent slights delivered to him on Morning Joe. On Tuesday, he issued an unhinged, strongly-worded statement blasting Brzezinski and Scarborough.
The former president wrote, “Crazy Joe Scarborough and his blood-curdling psycho wife (?), Mika, are going crazy because their ratings have absolutely TANKED. They are wrong too often and always predictable. They were right about me in 2016, but I did better in the 2020 Election with 12 million more votes. Stay tuned!”
Of course, this seems tame compared to some of Trump’s previous attacks on the journalists. Back in May of last year, Trump pushed a conspiracy theory that Scarborough was responsible for the death of one of his former staffers. The staffer had an undiagnosed heart condition and hit her head on her desk after a coronary episode.
And he wrote of Brzezinski in 2017, “Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came… to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no.”
The Morning Joe hosts have yet to respond to the comments from Trump.
