Trump is Taking Credit For Vaccines, But Operation Warp Speed Head Says He’s Never Really Been Involved
After months of dealing with a brutal pandemic, Americans were pleased to hear that a COVID vaccine is on the way. A number of different pharmaceutical companies were tasked with finding a cure under the White House’s Operation Warp Speed.
Miraculously, multiple companies have now found vaccines with over a 90% efficacy rate. And not surprisingly, Donald Trump is taking credit for their success. The Doctor in charge of Operation Warp Speed, though, says that Trump was never really involved.
On Monday morning, Trump tweeted, “Another Vaccine just announced. This time by Moderna, 95% effective. For those great “historians”, please remember that these great discoveries, which will end the China Plague, all took place on my watch!”

Dr. Moncef Slaoui, the head of Operation Warp Speed, disagrees. The Doctor spoke about the matter with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Monday. The host asked about Trump’s role in the development. Slaoui said that the president, “has never been very actively involved. As I’ve said many times, we’ve had no interference one way or the other. We have informed him from time-to-time.”
The Doctor continued, “From day one, I said, the key for success of this is two things. One is to have a laser-sharp focus on our objective, which is to save people’s life. That’s what we do day and night. And the second one is to minimize to anything… any kind of political interference. And I made sure to keep myself out of that.”
