Trump Hopes Michael Cohen Will ‘Serve a Complete and Full Sentence’

President Donald Trump is now claiming that his former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen should be imprisoned for “TERRIBLE” crimes. The president insisted that these crimes are unrelated to him. He further accused Cohen of fabricating “stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself.”

“He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence,” Trump concluded.

Cohen, who worked with Trump for well over a decade, is cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Last week, he pled guilty to lying to Congress, saying that he made misleading statements to congressional intelligence committees during testimony detailing his contacts with Russians during the 2016 presidential election cycle.

Cohen also admitted to lying about the then-presidential candidate’s plan to erect a Trump-branded tower in Moscow, an act which had until recently concealed conversations with President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov about the project and the extent to which the property plans were discussed within the Trump Organization.

The Trump Organization reportedly planned to gift Putin a $50 million penthouse in the proposed tower; that news has prompted further outcry from critics who view the president’s election as illegitimate. The U.S. intelligence community unanimously agrees that Trump benefited from Russia’s election interference.

Cohen’s plea was the first related to collusion with the Russian government since the special counsel’s investigation began. In August, he pled guilty to eight criminal counts related to the hush money payments he made adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, better known as Stormy Daniels. Cohen admitted to making the payments at Trump’s behest to buy Clifford’s silence and, in turn, influence the election. Cohen’s statements marked the first time the president was implicated in a federal crime since Mueller’s probe began.

The president has assailed Cohen ever since, at one point claiming that Cohen was little more than a “PR person who did small legal work.”
