Trump Hits the Golf Course For the First Time Since Pandemic Began

Donald Trump had no shortage of things that he would criticize former President Barack Obama over. One common theme for the now President was to knock his predecessor for golfing too much.

Unsurprisingly, Trump golfs more often than Obama. He golfs so often, in fact, that a website has been set up to track just how often the Commander in Chief hits the links. And on Saturday, for the first time since the pandemic started, Trump went out and played 18 holes.

Trump was particularly critical of Obama golfing during times of crisis. In October of 2014, Trump tweeted, “President Obama has a major meeting on the N.Y.C. Ebola outbreak, with people flying in from all over the country, but decided to play golf!”

The current pandemic, though, didn’t stop Trump. The USA Today’s John Frtizke wrote this morning, “The president’s motorcade arrived at Trump National in Sterling, Va., at 1027 am after a 35 minute drive along a route with sparse traffic but that was otherwise unremarkable. We did not see the president upon arrival. There were no protesters but several joggers and bikers outside the club.”

Pictures then emerged of the Commander in Chief on the course. CNN’s Jason Hoffman shared a picture, tweeting, “CNN photojournalist Khalil Abdallah got a shot of President Trump golfing today. He says the president is moving around the course in a golf cart alone but is golfing with three partners. None of the men are wearing masks.”

The White House has not confirmed or denied that Trump golfed today.
