Trump Fires Back at Chris Christie, Mocks Former Adviser For Being So Unpopular

Donald Trump and Chris Christie have had whirlwind friendship. The two men were close when Christie was governor of New Jersey. They butted heads, though, in 2016 when they were both seeking the Republican nomination. Christie returned to Trump’s good graces, though, becoming an important surrogate for his campaign.

Christie continued to advise Trump until he caught COVID-19, thanks in part to Trump’s recklessness. Since then, the former New Jersey governor has regularly criticized Trump. Over the weekend, Christie said that the party can’t move on with him unless the former president stops with his election fraud lies.

During a speech at the RJC this weekend, Christie said, “We can no longer talk about the past and the past elections — no matter where you stand on that issue, no matter where you stand, it is over. Every minute that we spend talking about 2020 — while we’re wasting time doing that, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are laying ruin to this country.”

Never one to let a perceived slight go unanswered, Trump released a statement which read:

Chris Christie, who just made a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) in Las Vegas, was just absolutely massacred by his statements that Republicans have to move on from the past, meaning the 2020 Election Fraud. Everyone remembers that Chris left New Jersey with less that 9% approval rating – a record low, and they didn’t want to hear from him.”
