Trump Fires Back After Lindsay Graham Accuses Him of Weakness

When they were opponents during the 2o16 Republican nomination process, Lindsay Graham and Donald Trump were not friends. The two frequently sparred over difference in their politics. In May of 2016, Graham famously tweeted, “If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…….and we will deserve it.”

Things have changed quite a bit over the last 3 years. Graham has become one of Trump’s fiercest defenders in nearly all matters of policies. Graham, however, did say that the President’s response was seen by the Iranians as a sign of weakness. Trump angrily responded to Graham that people just didn’t understand this sign of strength.

Graham penned a lengthy tweet storm on Tuesday that began with him complimenting Mike Pence. “A great briefing by VP Pence to the Senate Republican Conference regarding the attack on Saudi oil facilities,” he wrote. “It’s clear to me that such a sophisticated attack could not have occurred without Iran’s blessing and direct involvement.”

The South Carolina Senator continued, “This is literally an act of war and the goal should be to restore deterrence against Iranian aggression which has clearly been lost.”

Graham then took a shot at the President, remarking, “The measured response by President Donald Trump regarding the shooting down of an American drone was clearly seen by the Iranian regime as a sign of weakness.”

This message clearly drew the ire of Trump who tweeted back at Graham later that night. The President angrily responded, “No Lindsey, it was a sign of strength that some people just don’t understand.”
