Trump Expands Fear-Mongering ‘Be Afraid Of The Caravan’ Campaign On Twitter

Donald Trump on Tuesday morning continued to engage in irresponsible and incendiary fearmongering regarding the migrant caravans in Mexico despite Saturday’s rampage at the Tree of Life Synagogue and notable bipartisan criticism.

Trump posted the following tweet to start the day.

Trump then took another shot at the caravan.

Just yesterday, the President and First Lady paid a somber visit to the Pittsburgh synagogue that saw 11 worshipers murdered by Robert D Bowers, a virulent anti-Semite who parroted right-wing rhetoric calling this mass of migrants “invaders.” Trump rightly denounced the massacre in Pittsburgh as a “wicked act of mass murder.”

Trump has claimed, without presenting any evidence, that the caravan is harboring gang members and Middle Eastern terrorists; while guests on Fox News and others have suggested that the caravan is being organized or funded by George Soros, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust and philanthropist, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

The caravan is comprised of more than 3000 Central Americans that are nearly 1,000 miles from the U.S. border with Mexico as they travel by foot. It will take six to eight weeks before they arrive at the border and Trump has order more than 5000 troops to protect the border.
