Donald Trump is having yet another bad week, and it’s only Tuesday.
While trying to do damage control after the January 6th House Select Committee aired video clips of witness testimony from his inner circle during their second televised hearing, Trump also lost his final appeal to duck a date with the New York Attorney General, Letitia James. Trump has already paid $110,000 in contempt fines in the civil case, which is centered around his business practices. Her three-year investigation has uncovered evidence that the Trump Organization exaggerated the value of assets including skyscrapers, golf courses, and even his Manhattan penthouse to get loans, insurance, and tax breaks for land donations. So far, only Eric Trump has sat for questioning by the New York AG, where he famously invoked the Fifth Amendment 500 times.
The New York State Court of Appeals said there was no “substantial constitutional question” that would warrant its intervention in the matter following an intermediate appellate court’s ruling last month enforcing a subpoena for Trump’s testimony. The court also dismissed a motion by Trump’s lawyers to stay the subpoenas, saying that doing so would be “academic,” since it wasn’t taking up his appeal in the first place.
Just In: New York’s highest court has REJECTED Trump’s last-ditch and final effort to avoid testifying in the state AG Letitia James' civil investigation into his company and business practices, clearing the way for depositions, next month, for him and his two eldest spawn.

The appellate division of the state’s trial court ruled on May 26th that the Trumps had to undergo a deposition, upholding a lower court’s ruling that James’ office had “the clear right” to question Trump and certain other figures in his company, the Trump Organization. Now Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump, and son Donald Trump, Jr., all must be deposed next month in the investigation Trump has falsely decried as part of a politically motivated “witch hunt” against him.
