Trump Continues to Sabotage Loeffler and Perdue by Calling Upcoming Special Election “Invalid”

There is a special election coming up in Georgia and the GOP would really like to win. If Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff defeat Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, Democrats would gain control of the senate. Their Republican’s biggest obstacle in winning the election, though, is Donald Trump.

The president is desperate and increasingly unhinged. And he has turned much of his anger towards Georgia’s Republican leadership for not overturning their election results. He continued this attack on Friday night calling the looming special election “invalid.”

Trump (or likely someone with a better grasp of grammar and politics), tweeted, “The Georgia Consent Decree is Unconstitutional & the State 2020 Presidential Election is therefore both illegal and invalid, and that would include the two current Senatorial Elections. In Wisconsin, Voters not asking for applications invalidates the Election. All of this without even discussing the millions of fraudulent votes that were cast or altered!”

As usual, the tweet drew a fact check from Twitter. Is also drew mockery. Journalist Helen Kennedy responded, “The president calls the Georgia senate runoffs ‘illegal and invalid.’ Happy new year Mitch!”

Turnout so far in the Georgia special election has been massive. And the early voting turnout looks to be largely Democratic. Republicans are going to have to turnout in election day in large numbers to save Loeffler and Perdue. Tweets like this from the president certainly aren’t helping their cause.
