On Monday, President Trump appeared to dangle blackmail material over the head of a Democratic senator he said he has observed in “compromising” situations. Clearly trying to downplay the alleged drinking and sexual abuse at the hands of Brett Kavanaugh, Trump referenced the unsubstantiated accusations.
You know, I tell you what, I happen to know some United States senators, one who is on the other side who’s pretty aggressive, Trump said in an effort to make a case that Democrats are being hypocritical. “I’ve seen that person in very bad situations, okay? I’ve seen that person in very, very bad situations, somewhat compromising.
Like other claims raised by Trump in recent months, the President has released no verifiable information and refused to offer the name of the Democratic senator in question. Trump has lied more than 4000 times during his first 558 days in office which leaves a lot of questions to be answered about this accusation.
Trump is clearly livid over last week’s intense grilling of Kavanaugh following very credible testimony from Professor Christine Blasey Ford, one of Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual victims. Moreover, Trump has to be angry that the coronation of his SCOTUS pick was delayed due to Senator Flake (R-AZ) joining other senators in delaying the vote for a week to get a detailed report from the FBI.
