Nancy Pelosi has been a burr in the side of Donald Trump ever since Democrats retook the house in the 2018 midterms. While Trump prefers to be aggressive and work fast, Pelosi is a considered and pragmatic leader. In late September, The Speaker of the House announced her intentions to begin an impeachment inquiry into the President.
The GOP has attempted to shut down the inquiry through a variety of methods including regular cable news appearances for Trump surrogates. Another method is to discredit the leaders of the Democratic party. The President took this tact on Sunday night as he fired out tweets calling for the impeachment of all Democratic leaders, including Pelosi.
The President first took aim at Adam Schiff, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Trump wrote, “Nancy Pelosi knew of all of the many Shifty Adam Schiff lies and massive frauds perpetrated upon Congress and the American people, in the form of a fraudulent speech knowingly delivered as a ruthless con, and the illegal meetings with a highly partisan “Whistleblower” & lawyer.”
He then called for all of his political opponents to be removed from office. “This makes Nervous Nancy every bit as guilty as Liddle’ Adam Schiff for High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and even Treason,” Trump continued. “I guess that means that they, along with all of those that evilly ‘Colluded’ with them, must all be immediately Impeached!”
The President has regularly accused Democratic leaders of treason. Am American found guilty of treason could potentially face the death penalty.
