By now, Americans are used to waking up to hateful tweets published by the president of the United States, but this morning, a late night tweet made by Mr. Trump last evening, seems to have struck a different kind of nerve.
Less than 24 hours after bragging on Twitter about his 29% approval ‘among black voters’, according to a Rasmussan poll, Trump decided to attack the intelligence of two of America’s most successful and respected African American men; basketball phenom Lebron James, and CNN’s Don Lemon. The attack, which came after last week’s interview of Lebron James conducted by Don Lemon, can be seen below:
“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” Trump tweeted.
James began the interview with Lemon by talking about a school that his foundation is opening, called the “I PROMISE school” for ‘at-risk’ children in Akron, Ohio. James donated $8 million of his own money for the school.
While the majority of the interview had absolutely nothing to do with the president, James did say that ″(Trump) kinda used sports to kinda divide us. And that’s something that I can’t relate to because I know that sport was the first time I was around someone white.”
James also went on to say that Trump was enabling racists. “The president in charge now has given people…. they don’t care now ― they throw it in your face now,” he said.
It appears as if Trump, once again, couldn’t take the fact that someone disagreed with his views, and instead of simply ignoring them, attacked back in a not so elegant way. The entire CNN interview referenced by the president, can be seen below:
