Trump Adviser Moore: Social Distancing Protesters Are Like Rosa Parks
Earlier this week, Donald Trump revealed a set of guidelines that should be met before each state reopens its respective economy. Just a day later, Trump seemed to fight back against his own guidelines by encouraging protests and disruption in states with Democratic governors.
These protests have been cheered on by multiple Conservative personalities. Jeanine Pirro said, “God bless” the demonstrators, and hoped for more protests. The most lavish praise, though, came from Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore who compared the activists to Rosa Parks.
Moore told the Washington Post, “I think there’s a boiling point that has been reached and exceeded. I call these people the modern-day Rosa Parks — they are protesting against injustice and a loss of liberties.”
These comments are similar to ones made by the President during Friday’s press briefing. “These are people expressing their views,” he told reporters. “I see where they are and I see the way they’re working. They seem to be very responsible people to me, but they’ve been treated a little bit rough.”
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer took a different view of the activists who demonstrated outside the statehouse. She said the protests were the, “kind of irresponsible action that puts us in this situation where we might have to actually think about extending stay-at-home orders, which is supposedly what they are protesting.”
