Trump Admits That Don Jr. Called Him Before the Trump Tower Meeting

The President spent much of his day yesterday railing about the Democrats and their false accusations. One accusation that Donald Trump has consistently denied, is that he knew of the Trump Tower meeting in advance. In November of last year, CNN reported that Trump had told Robert Mueller he had no knowledge in the meeting in his written answers.

During his morning media session however, the President may have contradicted that answer without realizing it. While accusing the Democrats of cover-ups, Trump revealed that he did speak with Don Jr. prior to the meeting.

During his speech, the President said, You heard so much talk about phone calls made that my son made to me from this meeting. . . For a year I heard about phone calls. Of the three calls, that were so horrible, that he had a meeting and called me, and had the meeting after and he made two more calls.”

This revelation directly contradicts a tweet the President has sent out in January of this year. He wrote at the time, “Just out: The big deal, very mysterious Don jr telephone calls, after the innocent Trump Tower meeting, that the media & Dems said were made to his father (me), were just conclusively found NOT to be made to me. They were made to friends & business associates of Don. Really sad!”

That tweet was sent in response to Michael Cohen’s July, 2018 testimony. During that hearing, Cohen said he was present in the room when Trump Jr. told his father of the Russian offer.

The White House has yet to comment on Trump’s seeming admission.
