Tommy Tuberville, the senator from Alabama, has shown how much power one lawmaker could wield with his military promotion blockade. There are currently wars going on in Ukraine and Gaza and the United States military is being meddled with by the Alabama Republican.
Tuberville's fellow Conservatives aren't in his corner and some have even spoken out against him. The lawmaker is also being criticized by right-wing news channels. When asked about his continued stand, Tuberville is holding his ground.
Manu Raju tweeted on Monday about a conversation he had with the senator. According to the CNN reporter, Tuberville told him, "I’ve talked to admirals and generals, I’ve had people call me – I have had people call me over the holidays and say ‘keep doing what you’re doing, we’re not having any problem."
The report countered by asking the senator for the names of the military officials backing him. "They’re people that are in the military," he responded. "It’s good to hear from people that are actually doing what they’re doing."
The CNN reporter also noted, "Tuberville says there's one way to resolve blockade: Ensuring the Senate includes language in its final version of the NDAA to eliminate the Pentagon’s abortion policy. Tuberville said 'it probably would' resolve his objection, though very doubtful Dems will agree to this."
