Former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley recently emerged following a relatively quiet last year. She has not only ferociously defended Donald Trump, she also had some interesting stories about John Kelly and Rex Tillerson.
According to Haley, Tillerson and Kelly worked to undermine Donald Trump, claiming they could save lives. Today, the former Secretary of State hit back hard at Haley and said that they were rarely in the same meetings.
In her new book, the former UN Ambassador wrote, “Tillerson also told her that people would die if Trump was unchecked.”
In a statement made to the Washington Post, Tillerson responded, “During my service to our country as the Secretary of State, at no time did I, nor to my direct knowledge did anyone else serving along with me, take any actions to undermine the President.”
Tillerson then explained his relationship with Trump. “My conversations with the President in the privacy of the Oval Office were always candid, frank, and my recommendations straightforward,” he said. “Once the President made a decision, we at the State Department undertook our best efforts to implement that decision.”
The former Secretary of State then argued that Haley would have little knowledge of what the discussed with Trump. He finished his comments, “Ambassador Haley was rarely a participant in my many meetings and is not in a position to know what I may or may not have said to the President. I continue to be proud of my service as our country’s 69th Secretary of State.”
