Tiger King Expects Pardon On Trump’s Last Full Day In Office

Tiger King star Joseph Maldonado-Passage — better known as Joe Exotic — is still hoping that Donald Trump will offer a pardon in his last hours in office. Maldonado-Passage reportedly hopes to leave prison quietly and get his hair done before making a public appearance.

Forbes reports that Joe Exotic’s legal team — Team Tiger — is so confident in a forthcoming pardon that they’ve hired a limo to pick him up when he’s released from prison.

The reality series, Tiger King, that characterized the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, follows Joe Exotic’s life with his pet tigers, and his rivalry with Carole Baskins, who operated a tiger rescue operation. Ultimately, Maldonado-Passage, despite his typical portrayal as an eccentric but fun character, was convicted for attempting to orchestrate Baskins’ murder.

In April of 2020, Hollywood Reporter shared that Donald Trump had responded to the widespread popularity of the Tiger King by saying that he would ‘look into’ the possibility of issuing a pardon. However, unless he has communicated with the Team Tiger legal team behind the scene, there has been no apparent action on that particular promise.

While it’s expected that there could be some last-minute pardons from the exiting president, much speculation is that the people he seeks to pardon in his final day in office could be his family, people who have protected him in court, and perhaps even himself.

The Tiger King is far from the only person still holding out hope for a presidential pardon, either. Some of the rioters who broke into the Capitol, and feel that they did so at Trump’s behest, are also pleading for forgiveness before he heads to Florida Wednesday morning.
