Three Strikes And They’re Out: Greene, Gaetz Shut Out Of Third Rally Site

They just can’t take a hint. For the second time in less than 12 hours a public gathering place in southern California has told Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) that their brand of hate-filled, right-wing oratory is not welcome.

Late last night, after the private company that operates the Riverside Convention Center said it was kicking the Greene/Gaetz event to the curb, the Georgia lawmaker boasted on Twitter that “we will have our America first rally tomorrow. You can’t cancel us, you can’t stop us.”

In a Friday night email to supporters Greene announced that they were relocating to the Anaheim Event Center. But late this morning, less than 10 hours before they had hoped to fling open the doors to whatever followers they have, Greene and Gaetz were informed that the City of Anaheim has canceled the event.

“We as a city shared our public safety concerns with the operator and the operator shares the concerns,” Anaheim spokesman Mike Lyster said Saturday morning. “We respect free speech and we are capable of holding events,” Lyster said. “But it was the lack of advance notice for an event that would attract the attention at the level this one would that has raised issues for our city.” He added, “We have concerns about the nature of the event and that is does not reflect the city of Anaheim and the values we share.”

Once the third venue was announced, protestors started organizing to attend the Anaheim event and flooding the venue with negative Yelp reviews, calls and emails.

Late Saturday Greene tried to maintain her baseless bravado and claimed that despite being shut down again in Anaheim she and Gaetz still were planning on having a rally. She just couldn’t say where that might be.
