The Losses Mount for Trump as Nancy Mace Wins Her Primary Race

Primary season is a time when Donald Trump means to prove his political prowess. He has backed candidates in nearly every race, focusing on people loyal to him rather than who is the best for the GOP.

It has also been a time of revenge for Trump. He has turned his sights on those candidates who voted to impeach him or even ever criticized him. He really wanted South Carolina Republican Nancy Mace to lose. She didn’t vote for his impeachment but criticized his role in the insurrection. She also voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt.
Trump targeted Mace by backing her opponent Katie Arrington. But now Mace has defeated Arrington and will be the Republican candidate in November.
Mace tweeted last night, “Just hopped off the phone with Katie Arrington and thanked her for stepping into the arena, working hard in her campaign and tonight endorsing us for November. Katie, thank you!”

Trump of course, tried to deflect from his loss in the race. He posted to Truth Social, “Katie Arrington was a long shot but ran a great race and way over performed. Congrats to Nancy Mace, who should easily be able to defeat her Democrat opponent!”
