The First 100 Days: President Biden’s Strong Approval Rating

As President Joe Biden nears his 100th day in office, slightly more than half of Americans say they approve of his job performance. President Biden gets his highest marks on handling the COVID-19 pandemic and his lowest on the situation at the southern border, according to a new national NBC News poll.
The poll also found the public is largely supportive of the President’s top legislative priorities and more optimistic about defeating the pandemic and about the country’s direction than it was back in January.

President Biden’s job rating is higher than the former guy’s was at this same point in time in the poll (40 percent approve, 54 percent disapprove), but it’s lower than Barack Obama’s was at 100 days (61 percent approve, 30 percent disapprove).
“What we don’t know is if this is part of a 100-day honeymoon or something more durable and lasting for the Biden-Harris administration,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies.
Unlike their news counterparts at ABC News, NBC News seems to have done a more accurate poll.
BREAKING: 52% of Americans approve of Pres. Joe Biden's first 100 days in office—the third-lowest of any president at that milestone since Harry Truman, per a new @ABC News/WaPo poll. https://t.co/JnNaI9yRTi

However, the NBC News poll also shows that nearly 1 in 5 Americans are resistant or hesitant about getting a COVID-19 vaccine. The data reveals a majority believe the nation is on the wrong track and that a whopping 80 percent still think the country is mostly divided, despite President Biden’s promise to be a more unifying president.
“What we do know is that Joe Biden’s presidency is meeting the times,” Horwitt concluded.
The fact that the President is popular with his party is also helping with the public’s acceptance of the new administration.
Biden's approval among Dems (90%) is 6 pts higher than Trump's among GOP (a smaller, shrunken party) 4 yrs ago. Biden's approval among indies, the largest group of voters, is 9 points higher than Trump 4 yrs ago.
That's the story right there.

Also, Joe is really hip with the kids.
Biden having the highest youth approval rating of any president in 21 years was not on my 2021 bingo card.

And by a 55-to-34 percent margin, respondents believe that the President has returned the country to a more typical way that past presidents have governed the country. One poll respondent summed up the “Biden Calm” that seems to have finally started taking effect.

“I don’t have to think about what Joe Biden is doing every day,” said a North Carolina man who voted for President Biden. “The best thing about Joe Biden is I don’t have to think about Joe Biden.”
