Text Messages Reveal Ginni Thomas Discussed Overthrowing 2020 Election With Mark Meadows

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot has more than two dozen text messages in its possession between former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, a conservative activist and the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, according to multiple sources. The messages, which occurred between early November 2020 and mid-January 2021, do not directly reference Justice Thomas or the Supreme Court. Among Ginni Thomas’ stated goals in the messages was for lawyer Sidney Powell, who promoted incendiary and unsupported claims about the election, to become “the lead and the face” of Trump’s legal team.

Ginni Thomas recently revealed that she attended the pro-Trump rally that preceded the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, but says she “played no role” in planning the events of that day. But the texts obtained by the Select Committee show for the first time how she used her access to Trump’s inner circle to encourage and seek to guide his strategy to overturn the election results, with Meadows saying in one message that he was ‘”grateful” to receive her advice.

The 29 messages were among the 2,320 text messages that Meadows provided the House Select Committee. The existence of the messages between Thomas and Meadows — 21 sent by her; eight by him —was first reported by the Washington Post.

In one message sent on November 10, 2020, shortly after Joe Biden was projected to win the election, Ginni Thomas wrote to Meadows: “Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!…You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History,” per The Post report. On November 24, 2020, Meadows wrote to Ginni Thomas, describing the election as “a fight of good versus evil.”

The news comes on the same day the Select Committee announced they will move forward with pursuing Contempt of Congress charges against Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino.
