Ted Cruz Wants Mitch McConnell to Step Down From Leadership

Ted Cruz will never be mistaken for someone who can get along with others. The Texas senator has made more enemies than friends during his time in politics, even among those in his own party. Former Speaker of the House John Boehner famously despised Cruz.

Cruz is always willing to kick people when they are down and the most recent target is Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The GOP senate recently helped shut down a bi-partisan border bill drawn up in part by Republican James Lankford. And now that the bill has failed, the Texas senator is calling on McConnell to step down from his post.

The Texas senator has made the demand a few times, but did it again recently during a TV spot with Stuart Varney. The Fox Business host asked, "Do you want Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to step down?"

"Look, I think it is well past time. I think there have been a lot of enormous mistakes. But this mistake was the worst," Cruz responded. The despised lawmaker continued, "And what’s frustrating, Stuart, Mitch McConnell is saying the exact same thing that Chuck Schumer is. I think that is malpractice for the leader of a party in the Senate."
