Steve Schmidt: Trump Lacks All Qualities of a Leader During a Crisis
On Friday, Donald Trump held a shorter version of his daily press briefing and didn’t take any questions from the assembled media. There was then a report that the President would be cutting back on holdings the regular pressers.
Monday’s session was originally meant to be cancelled, but once the afternoon came around, Trump was again holding a conference. MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace blasted Trump’s handlers for not being able to control him and Steve Schmidt remarked that the President “lacks all the qualities of a leader.”
While discussing the on-again, off-again story of today’s briefing, Wallace said, “It also reveals the weakness of a White House staff when a president fails over and over and over again it reveals the man, but it also reveals the weakness of the people around him to stage any sort of intervention or any sort of effort to save him from himself.”
Schmidt went in hard on the President, telling the host, “The whole country has seen Trump’s unraveling or really him revealing to the country under pressure in this crisis, who he really is, and who he really is, is a person who lacks all of the qualities that you would want to see in a leader.”
