Steve Bannon: The GOP Needs to Find Their Own AOC’s

Since she won office during the 2018 Midterms, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been a subject of fascination. Fox News frequently runs stories on her during their late night programming. Donald Trump does not like the congresswoman very much and called her a “wack job” in early October.

Steve Bannon, unlike many other Republicans, is an admirer of Ocasio-Cortez, saying she’s a gritty determined fighter. The former Trump adviser continued his praise of AOC early this week saying that the Republicans need to find candidates that are similar to her.

The comments were made during an interview with The Guardian. Bannon isn’t a fan of her politics saying, “I think her ideology’s all f—-d up, but I want her. I want to recruit bartenders. I don’t want to recruit any more lawyers. I want bartenders.”

Bannon also said that lawmakers like AOC help the Democrats to connect to working class voters. He criticized Republicans, saying, “We’ve turned the Republican Party into a working-class party. Now, interestingly, we don’t have any elected representatives who believe that, but that’s a legacy issue. We’ll get over that. We’ve got to find our AOCs.”

Getting back to the 2018 midterms, Bannon says that the Democrats won because they had “better casting.” He continued, “They did an amazing job in ’18. I keep saying I admire AOC.”

Bannon also opined recently on what might happen during the 2020 election. “(2020 is) going to be very tough,” he said. “Trump knows that. That’s why he’s very focused in his efforts.”
