Soros: Mark Zuckerberg is Engaged in Quid Pro Quo With Trump and Should be Removed From Facebook

Facebook had an outsize role in the 2016 Presidential Election thanks to the spread of disinformation from outside agitators. Many lawmakers have called on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to prevent this from happening again in 2020. So far, Zuckerberg has failed to do much.

Billionaire George Soros believes that there is a clear reason why Zuckerberg has failed to clean up his site. According to the high profile Democratic donor, the Facebook founder and Trump are engaged in a mutually beneficial relationship and Zuckerberg should be removed from Facebook.

Soros made the claims in an op-ed he penned for The Financial Times. It was in response to a piece Zuckerberg did for the magazine where he said, “The internet is a powerful force for social and economic empowerment. Regulation that protects people and supports innovation can ensure it stays that way.”

The billionaire Democrat responded to article by writing, “Mr Zuckerberg appears to be engaged in some kind of mutual assistance arrangement with Donald Trump that will help him to get re-elected.”

Soros continued, “Facebook does not need to wait for government regulations to stop accepting any political advertising in 2020 until after the elections on November 4. If there is any doubt whether an ad is political, it should err on the side of caution and refuse to publish. It is unlikely that Facebook will follow this course.”

The donor closed, “Therefore, I repeat my proposal, Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg should be removed from control of Facebook.”
