Sidney Powell Claims 70% Of California Recall Voters Were Turned Away From Polls In One County
As Donald Trump did in 2016, and again in 2020, he and many of his supporters are already claiming massive election fraud in the California recall election, before election day even comes to a close. Sidney Powell, the attorney who is already facing disciplinary action for pushing Big Lie lawsuits as a political agenda, now claims that 70% of voters in one California county showed up to the polls only to be told they’d already voted.
Powell may have received warnings from her own legal counsel after facing a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems for defaming the company with unfounded allegations. She couched the claim in cautious terms, saying that the claim, for which she offers absolutely no evidence whatsoever, is what someone else told her, and not naming the source, or giving any information that would verify how reliable that source is. She doesn’t even name the county where she’s alleging this happened.

Still, it sounds like she doesn’t expect the far-right to prevail in the recall election. She states that the only way it will happen is “if somebody ever investigates the fraud,” and that election fraud will continue to be rampant (despite no evidence for this) until voter ID is implemented, ballots are all paper, and the 2020 election is “fixed.”
Current polling agrees with part of this, at least. While there’s no evidence of the voter fraud Powell insists is so rampant, there is support for her expectation that the recall will fail. FiveThirtyEight is currently showing 57% for keeping Governor Gavin Newsome in office, with 41% for recalling.
