Several Former Ohio State Wrestlers Speak Out Against Jim Jordan's Speaker Bid

Jim Jordan's past came back to haunt him this week as several former Ohio State wrestlers who he coached claimed that he should not become the Speaker of the House.

While Jordan was working as a coach at Ohio State, a doctor named Richard Strauss sexually abused hundreds of wrestlers. While the Ohio congressman said he was not aware of the abuse, many wrestlers under his care have said that he did.

After Kevin McCarthy was ousted, Jordan is reportedly attempting to become the next Speaker of the House. Some of his former athletes are speaking out against that bid.

Mike Schyck told NBC News, "Do you really want a guy in that job who chose not to stand up for his guys? Is that the kind of character trait you want for a House Speaker?" The former college athlete continued, "His locker was just a few spots away from mine and mine was near Dr. Strauss. And we were always talking about Dr. Strauss. There's no way he didn't know what was going on."

Another wrestler who was under Jordan's care, Dunyasha Yetts, opined, "He doesn't deserve to be House speaker. He still has to answer for what happened to us."

Jordan has long denied the claims levied against him. And the Republican establishment is only too happy to protect him.
