When Donald Trump was in office, he placed three very Conservative justices on the Supreme Court. Those justices soon achieved a long-time Republican goal by overturning Roe vs. Wade, and Donald Trump has regularly bragged that he helped his party to do so.
The problem for Trump is that most voters did not want to see Roe vs. Wade overturned, and the decision has been political poison. On Monday, Trump outlined his plan to essentially kick the abortion decision to individual states.
Many Republican lawmakers are unhappy about Trump not coming out stronger against abortion. On Monday, Sean Hannity warned those Reps that they are committing political suicide.
The Fox host said during his radio show, "I have been warning Republicans and conservatives on abortion for a long time, and I've been saying that you'd better be careful ... that Democrats are going to demagogue the issue of abortion."
Hannity also opined that Republican lawmakers have to be considerate of what the public wants, saying, "any Republican that would take a position — no exceptions for rape, incest, or the mother's life — that is political suicide."
The host closed his message, "Any Republican that calls for a flat-out ban ... that would be outright suicide. But I'll tell you one thing, and this would be an admonition for any conservative or any Republican running ... if you're going to take that extreme position, you are going to lose votes."
