New York-based financier Anthony Scaramucci was once a close friend to Donald Trump. The President rewarded Scaramucci’s loyalty by named him the White House Communications Director, though he only lasted 9 days in that position. The two men, though, have had a falling out over the past week.
Scaramucci had special insight into Trump’s psyche and has been active on cable news discussing the presidency. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the former comms director predicted that Trump would drop out of the 2020 race by March of 2020.
While discussing the President with the magazine, Scaramucci said, “He’s gonna drop out of the race because it’s gonna become very clear. Okay, it’ll be March of 2020. He’ll likely drop out by March of 2020. It’s gonna become very clear that it’s impossible for him to win. And is this the kind of guy that’s gonna want to be that humiliated and lose as a sitting president?”
The former friend to the President landed another burn on Trump over the course of the day. After Trump encouraged a protester to lose some weight (it turned out the man he insulted was actually a supporter), Scaramucci tweeted, “Said the fattest President since William Howard Taft.”

Trump has taken the bait on Scaramucci’s repeated insults. Trump tweeted earlier this week, “Like many other so-called television experts, he knows very little about me other than the fact that this Administration has probably done more than any other Administration in its first 2 1/2 years of existence. Anthony, who would do anything to come back in, should remember the only reason he is on TV, and it’s not for being the Mooch!”
