Usually when there is big news in the Robert Mueller investigation, Saturday Night Live is very quick to parody the occurrence. Last night, just a few days after longtime Trump associate and campaign aide Roger Stone was arrested by federal authorities and indicted on seven criminal counts, the cast of Saturday Night Live once again seized the moment.
To open last night’s show, SNL presented viewers with an almost 7-minute segment mimicking Fox New’s Tucker Carlson tonight show and his interview of various guests.
Playing Tucker Carlson, Alex Moffat interviewed Jeannine Pirro (Cecily Strong), Ann Coulter (Heidi Gardner), and Wilbur Ross (Kate McKinnon) before getting to their main focus, Roger Stone (Steve Martin).
Steve Martin, playing Roger Stone, told lies, bragged, blinked about one hundred times, and moved around in a very animated fashion, in an almost perfect portrayal of the 66-year old Trump confidant,
To introduce Stone, Carlson stated, “Our final story this week is the dramatic, some say ludicrous, arrest of longtime Trump associate Roger Stone. The man is 66-years old, frail, barely able to post shirtless photos of his jacked body — clearly no threat to anybody.”
They then went into showing a video of a violent police raid, as a means of mocking those critical of the early morning raid of Stone’s Florida home.
