Sarah Huckabee Sanders Responds to Bomb Crisis by Criticizing CNN

With two more bombs being found this morning, the country looked to the White House for a response. Both President Trump and his Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders came out swinging at the media, specifically CNN.

Yesterday, CNN President Jeff Zucker criticized the White House after a bomb was sent to the company’s headquarters. In a statement, Zucker wrote, “There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media. The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary should understand that words matter. Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that.”

Sanders did not take long to respond to the criticism from Zucker. On her @PressSec Twitter account, Sanders wrote, “Donald Trump asked Americans to come together and send one very clear, strong, unmistakable message that acts or threats of political violence have no place in the USA. Yet you choose to attack and divide. America should unite against all political violence.”

Many were quick to point out the hypocrisy in Sanders’ messaging. In a statement calling for unity, she appeared to take a clear shot at CNN for “dividing the country.”

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Wisconsin last night and while there were the all too common “lock her up” Hillary Clinton chants, the rally was relatively subdued. However, Trump was back on the attack on Twitter this morning.

Trump wrote, “A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News. It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!”

Trump had the opportunity to decry the recent attacks and bring the country together. It seems that the President and his team will be taking a different tact.
