Sarah Huckabee Sanders Promises to Do Nothing to Stop COVID-19 if Elected Governor of Arkansas
Arkansas Republican gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders vowed during an appearance on Fox News on Friday morning that if she is elected governor she will not implement any restrictions in order to protect her state’s residents from the surging COVID-19 Delta variant.
First, Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy correctly pointed out that unvaccinated people account for nearly all new coronavirus infections and noted that “new restrictions” are not something that anybody wants.
Sanders agreed and alluded to Florida – where COVID-19 is exploding due to low vaccination rates – as being on the right path.
“I think Governor [Ron] DeSantis [R] is exactly right. He’s done a great job in Florida. If I’m elected governor here in Arkansas, we will not have mask mandates, we will not have mandates on the vaccine, we will not shut down churches and schools, and other large gatherings because we believe in personal freedom and responsibility. It’s one of the key cornerstones frankly of our country,” Sanders said.
She suggested that if President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris truly want to increase vaccination rates, they would suck up to former President Donald Trump.
“I do think if President Biden and Vice President Harris and others on the left are serious about helping save lives through the vaccine, they should admit they were wrong when they cast doubt on Operation Warp Speed at the very beginning, and give President Trump and his administration the credit they are due for helping get this vaccine created safely, quickly and effectively, and into the hands of Americans,” said the former White House press secretary. “I think that would make a huge difference, and I think that they should really take some responsibility and step up and fix the mistake that they made by casting so much doubt at the very beginning of this process.”
Host Brian Kilmeade then jumped in to say that if Biden really cared about getting more people vaccinated, he would secure the border, even though the two issues have nothing whatsoever to do with each other – except in Fox News propaganda land. He also demanded, just as Sanders did moments earlier, that Biden kiss Trump’s ring even though the pandemic is his fault.
“He could do both things, couldn’t he?” asked Kilmeade.
“Absolutely. This was a vaccine that was created safely and effectively under the Trump Administration, and he should give credit to that administration. I think that would make a huge difference in the rhetoric, take away some of the politicization that we have seen over the course of the last year on this particular issue if they would admit they were wrong when they cast that original doubt on Operation Warp Speed and give some credit to the previous administration. I think it could make a difference,” said Sanders.
The politicization of the vaccine has been coming exclusively out of the GOP.
