Sarah Huckabee Sanders burst onto the national scene as Donald Trump’s Press Secretary. Her brusk and combative behavior made her very unpopular. According to a survey conducted by YouGov, only 31% of Americans had a positive opinion of her compared to 42% with a negative opinion.
That doesn’t matter in Arkansas, though, where Huckabee Sanders is very popular. Her father Mike was the governor of the state from 1996-2007.
And now Sanders will be trying to follow in her father’s footsteps. The Republican has announced that she will be running for governor of Arkansas and will be favored to win. The incumbent GOP governor, Asa Hutchison, is ineligible to run again.
Sanders made the announcement in a video posted to her website. She told fans, “To remain free, we must have law and order and resolve our differences peacefully. The radical left’s solution is to impose government control and censorship from the top down.”
The former Press Secretary continued, “As governor, I will defend your right to be free of socialism and tyranny, your Second Amendment right, your freedom of speech and religious liberty.”
Sanders ended her video by saying, “I took on the media, the radical left and their cancel culture, and I won,\As governor, I will be your voice. And never let them silence you.”
