Sarah Huckabee Sanders Attempts Damage Control Over Harris Children Comments

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement this weekend after she faced criticism for noting that Kamala Harris doesn't have biological children.

During her time as his Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders showed that she is willing to say almost anything in defense of Donald Trump. And that has not changed just because she has a different job now. As one of the few women willing to speak on Trump's behalf, she often acts as a campaign surrogate.

In that capacity, Sanders created controversy by saying that Harris was not humble since she doesn't have children of her own. The Vice President is a step-mother of two and has often talked about her step-children. A back-tracking Sanders wrote this weekend:

"I would never criticize a woman for not having children, the point I was making and that Kamala Harris confirmed by her own admission is that she doesn’t believe our leaders should be humble, which explains her arrogant claim that she alone can fix our nation’s problems after spending the last four years making them worse."

Harris was asked about the initial comments from Harris during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The VP responded:

"I don’t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who, one, are not aspiring to be humble. Two, a whole lot of women out here who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life, and children in their life."

Harris then added, "I think it’s really important for women to lift each other up.'
