Sanders Blasts Wall Streeter Lloyd Blankfein Who Says Bernie Will Ruin Economy

Many Americans have long showed their displeasure with Wall St. and the traders who work there. Back in 2011, there was a massive Occupy Wall St. protest that took place in New York’s Zuccotti Park. The issue of Wall St.’s power remains and incredibly important one for those seeking the 2020 Democratic nomination.

The most aggressive candidate in terms of regulation the financial industry is Bernie Sanders. As Sanders surges in the Democratic race, he’s drawn criticism from prominent billionaires like Lloyd Blankfein. On Friday, Sanders fired back at those critics.

According to Blankfein, Sanders would be the preferred candidate for Russia. The Goldman Sachs CEO tweeted, “If Dems go on to nominate Sanders, the Russians will have to reconsider who to work for to best screw up the US. Sanders is just as polarizing as Trump AND he’ll ruin our economy and doesn’t care about our military. If I’m Russian, I go with Sanders this time around.”

The tweet was quickly torn apart by Sanders’ supporters. The People for Bernie account responded, “When you say ‘our economy,’ whose economy would that be, Lloyd?”

Sanders, himself, then weighed in on Blankfein’s criticism. The 2020 candidate tweeted, “I welcome the hatred of the crooks who destroyed our economy.”

Sanders tweet currently has 89,000 like compared to around 10,000 for Blankfein’s.
