Right-wing radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has called for more violence in the wake of Wednesday’s armed incursion on the United States Capitol, which was instigated by President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Rudy Giuliani at a “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, DC that same morning.
On Thursday’s edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show, the serial philandering propagandist blamed former President Barack Obama for the armed insurrection – a textbook example of a mass act of sedition, if not treason – and claimed falsely that Obama and the Democratic Party spent four years trying to remove Trump from office:
We’re supposed to be horrified by the protesters. Meanwhile, four years of a coup launched in the Oval Office of Barack Obama to overturn the election results of 2016 and not a single word of concern about the potential damage to our Constitution. No, there were just other denials – ‘we didn’t do it, I dunno what you’re talking about. Trump’s gotta go. Trump’s poison. A lot of irony out there.
Irony? No, just an avalanche of lies.
Limbaugh then compared to the terrorists who attacked the Capitol for Trump to the Founding Fathers:
There’s a lot of people calling for the end of violence. There’s a lot of conservatives, social media, who say that any violence or aggression at all is unacceptable, regardless of the circumstances. I’m glad Sam Adams, Thomas Paine, the actual Tea Party guys, the men at Lexington and Concord didn’t feel that way.
Somebody should call the authorities.
