Rudy Giuliani Ordered To Appear As Witness In Georgia Election Interference Probe

The Georgia investigation into Donald Trump’s contact with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is proceeding, with new subpoenas in recent days. The latest of his allies to be called to testify as a Grand Jury determines whether or not the former president should be indicted for efforts to change the outcome of the 2020 election is Rudy Giuliani, who served as personal attorney to Trump during the last part of his presidential term (after his previous personal attorney was jailed for lying to Congress on his behalf).

Giuliani must appear on August 8th to testify to the Grand Jury, a New York judge has ordered. Because Giuliani does not live in Georgia, ABC reports, the Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, was required to go through a process that involves getting a judge in the witness’ home state to order him to appear.
He joins several other witnesses, including Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Representative Jody Hice (R-GA) in being ordered to appear and testify. Both of these initially indicated an intent to fight the order, though Graham has now said that he will accept service of the subpoena, according to CNBC.
Politico‘s Kyle Cheney shared a copy of the order on Twitter.

It notes that Giuliani was previously asked to share information with the court, and that he did not respond to a Order to Show Cause, where he could have shared any reason he felt he should not be issued a subpoena to appear.
Giuliani has not yet stated whether he intends to cooperate with this investigation, though he has testified before the January 6th Committee while other Trump allies dodged that probe.
