Rooms at Trump’s DC Hotel Are $7500 Less Today Than Last Jan 6th

What a difference a year makes.

January is usually a slow time for the hospitality industry, as the holidays have ended and there’s nothing much to celebrate until Valentine’s Day. Mid-winter isn’t exactly peak travel season, but there was nothing ordinary about what happened one year ago in the nation’s capital.

In December 2020, Trump had plugged a “big protest” that would “be wild” in D.C. via his Twitter and other social media accounts. Almost immediately, rates at the Trump DC surged from $476 to $1,999. A week later, they climbed to $3,600, before peaking at $8,000 for the least expensive room. A manager for the hotel later boasted that room service enjoyed record numbers that week, where they hosted members of the Proud Boys and members of Trump’s inner circle in the days leading up to the attack on Congress, including Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, QAnon promoter Juan O. Savin, Roger Stone, and one of Rudy Giuliani’s election experts, Phil Waldron.

But now, with Trump retreated to Mar-A-Lago and facing various prosecutions, they don’t seem as interested in visiting, and the brand has been “tarnished” according to travel insiders. Forbes is reporting that a room at Trump’s D.C. hotel can be booked as little as $446 this January, and while that’s not exactly Motel 6 prices, it’s clearly not at the level associated with the Trump name. And the same rate is being offered almost every other night at the hotel over the next two months. Representatives from the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to inquiries from Forbes regarding the price drops.
