There is no denying that former Trump Campaign adviser Roger Stone appears to be in the crosshairs of the Mueller Probe. Even Stone has expressed the likelihood that he may soon be indicted. Meanwhile, multiple reports indicate that Mueller is ready to unleash further indictments any day now, and Stone appears to me one of the individuals that most political pundits and legal scholars expect will face an indictment in the weeks and months ahead.
With rumors swirling, we thought it would be interesting to look at what we know about Stone’s involvement in Trump/Russia thus far:
8/6/2015 – Roger Stone officially leaves the Trump Campaign
The Trump campaign says he was fired, while Stone, claims he resigned. Regardless of leaving, Stone remains a campaign surrogate and stays in communication with the campaign throughout the remaining 17 months.
3/26/2016 – Roger Stone recommends that the Trump Campaign hire Paul Manafort as their Convention Manager.
The campaign listens and Manafort and Rick Gates are brought on. Both Manafort and Gates are later indicted, with Gates admitting guilt and Manafort getting multiple felony convictions.
8/8/2016 – Roger Stone says he was in touch with Assange during a speech in Florida.
Stone claimed to be in touch with Julian Assange and predicted upcoming WikiLeaks releases:
“I actually have communicated with Assange. I believe the next tranche of his documents pertain to the Clinton Foundation but there’s no telling what the October surprise may be.”
Stone later changes his story and says that his communications with Assange were not direct, but rather through an intermediary.
8/13/2016 – Roger Stone supports Guccifer 2.0 after they are suspended from Twitter and WordPress.
Roger Stone tweets, “Now Guccifer 2.0 — why are those exposing the truth banned?” Twitter reinstates the Guccifer 2.0 account and in a private message to Guccifer 2.0, Stone writes, “Delighted you are reinstated. F*ck the State and their MSM lackeys.”
8/14/2016 – Roger Stone further communicates with Guccifer 2.0
Stone says that he communicated, via Twitter direct message, with Guccifer 2.0, the Russian hacking group connected to Russian military intelligence. Stone admits that his communications with Guccifer 2.0 were related to their release earlier in the Summer of stolen DNC emails. In July of 2016 Guccifer claimed to have hacked the DNC and released emails to Wikileaks, who then published the emails as the #DNCHacks document.
8/17/2016 – Guccifer 2.0 sends further communication to Roger Stone
Guccifer 2.0 sends a direct message to Roger Stone on Twitter:
“I’m pleased to say that u r great man” “and I think I gonna read ur books” “please tell me if I can help u anyhow it would be a great pleasure to me.”
8/18/2016 – For the second time, this time on a C-SPAN interview, Roger Stone claims he’s in communication with Wikileaks’ Julian Assange
Stone claims once again that through an intermediary he has been in touch with Julian Assange. Then he makes a prediction: “I expect you’re going to see more from Mr. Assange.”
8/21/2016 – Stone predicts that Clinton Campaign Manager John Podesta was going to be in trouble.
“Trust me, it will soon the Podesta’s time in the barrel,” he tweeted. Stone later claimed that he wasn’t talking about the upcoming WikiLeaks releases but was alluding to an expose he was planning to write on his own.
8/22/2016 – After a request for information was made by Florida GOP consultant Aaron Nevins on Aug. 12, Guccifer 2.0 released approximately 2.5 gigabytes of stolen documents, including the Democratic Party’s ‘get-out-the-vote’ strategy for Florida. This release was sent to Nevins’ Dropbox account and Nevins slowly releases the material throughout the remainder of the month and into the first two weeks of September. Guccifer 2.0 sends Roger Stone a link to Nevins’ blog on the 22nd.
8/29/2016 – Roger Stone tells a local Florida radio interviewer (around the 6½-minute mark of the interview), “We’re going to, I think, see from WikiLeaks and other leakers the nexus between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation.” About Assange, he says, “Perhaps he has the smoking gun that makes this handcuff time.”
9/9/2016 – Stone predicts that WikiLeaks will soon release Clinton emails. He says in a radio interview that WikiLeaks will release new Clinton emails.
“I expect Julian Assange and the WikiLeaks people to drop a payload of new documents on Hillary on a weekly basis fairly soon. And that, of course, will answer the question of exactly what was erased on that email server.”
9/9/2016 – On the same day as his Wikileaks prediction, Guccifer 2.0 sends Roger Stone a link to a blog post about voter turnout. Along with the link Guccifer writes the following message to Stone: “hi, what do u think of the info on the turnout model for the democrats entire presidential campaign? Basically how it works is there are people who will vote party line no matter what and there are folks who will actually make a decision. The basic premise of winning an election is turnout your base (marked turnout) and target the marginal folks with persuadable advertising (marked persuadable). They spend millions calculating who is persuadable or what we call a ‘soft democrat’ and who is a ‘hard democrat.’” Stone replies: “Pretty standard.”
9/13/2016 – Guccifer 2.0 Releases 700MB of documents from the DNC
10/2/2016 – Stone alludes to more forthcoming Wikileaks data dumps
Stone appeared to predict that WikiLeaks would soon post damaging materials about Clinton. He posted: “Wednesday @HillaryClinton is done. #WikiLeaks.” Nothing materialized on the date Stone referred to, but two days later on 10/4/2016, WikiLeaks started releasing Podesta’s emails.
10/5/2016 – Stone says “payload coming” from WikiLeaks.
“Libs thinking Assange will stand down are wishful thinking. Payload coming,” Stone tweeted. Two days later on 10/7/2016 WikiLeaks began releasing thousands of emails hacked from Podesta’s email account.
10/12/2016 – Stone admits to Wikileaks “back-channel”.
During an interview on NBC News, Stone says: “I have back-channel communications with WikiLeaks.”
(Later 2016) – Roger Stone claims that he had been poisoned with a radioactive material called Polonium. This is the same substance that former KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko was murdered with in 2006.
3/4/2017 – In a tweet Stone once again admits having a back-channel to Wikileaks, then deletes the tweet.
Roger Stone tweets: “Never denied perfectly legal back channel to Assange who indeed had the goods on #CrookedHillary.” Within 40 minutes Stone deletes the tweet.
3/15/2017 – Roger Stone involved in hit and run accident.
Roger Stone was involved in a hit and run car accident. The car hit him, backed up and then fled. Stone questions if this accident was intentional or not, alluding to the fact that perhaps someone wants him dead.
7/13/2018 – The US Department of Justice indicted 12 Russian Intelligence Officers and revealed that Guccifer 2.0 was allegedly a persona used by GRU.
