Rick Scott appeared on Laura Loomer's podcast this week to discuss his senate race and the Florida Republican was quite complimentary of the conspiracy theorist.
Loomer has loomed large during this year's election season, which includes plenty of time spent with Donald Trump. There was heavy backlash from the Republican candidate palling around with Loomer who has described herself as a "Pro White Nationalist." Eventually, she seemed to be dispatched from Trump's inner circle.
Scott is in a tighter-than-expected race against Democrat Debbie Mucarsell-Powell, which makes his decision to appear on Loomer's podcast that much more surprising.
Loomer said that Scott should not only be reelected, but made the Republican leader in the Senate:
"Donald Trump’s entire second administration will 100% be undermined and thwarted if John Thune or John Cornyn become the next Senate GOP leader. The only way we are going to have a successful Trump administration and somebody who is actually going to impose a MAGA majority in the Senate is if Sen. Rick Scott becomes our next Senate GOP leader."
Loomer closed the segment by saying that Scott had written her a letter after she helped with his 2014 gubernatorial campaign.
The senator responded, "I’m very appreciative. You know, I’ve been blessed, I’ve gotten to meet wonderful people and work with wonderful people. And congratulations on all your success."
