THE LINCOLN PROJECT STOKES TRUMP-DESANTIS FIGHT
The Lincoln Project is re-airing its ad “Sad!” in Palm Beach and Tallahassee to stoke a growing MAGA-on-MAGA political fight; the increasingly hot war between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump. “Sad!” sends a clear message to the former president: Governor DeSantis thinks he can take the MAGA base away from its founder; and Fox News thinks so too.
The ad was first released in September of 2021 to divide the MAGA movement’s two most prominent leaders. Since then, press reports have profiled Trump’s growing disgust with DeSantis. Most recently, Trump referred to the Governor as “gutless.” Now, DeSantis has taken his fight with Trump public, saying supporting Trump is 2024 is “Too much to ask.”
“At least Ron DeSantis shares one thing with Donald Trump; they’re both profoundly disloyal,” said Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson. “Ron DeSantis wants to be President, and he’s declared war on Donald Trump. In the words of Dr. Ishiro Seriwaza, ‘Let them fight.’”
