There are many aspects of the job of being president that Donald Trump doesn’t seem to like. He certainly didn’t enjoy going to the G7 conferences and meeting with other world leaders. Intelligence briefings were another problem for Trump as he considered them too long and boring to read.
But one thing the 45th president absolutely loves about his job is the power to pardon people. He’s largely used the ability to pay back political supporters like Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Dinesh D’Souza and Joe Arpaio. With his presidency coming to an end, many more pardons are expected. According to a new report from Politico, Trump is wavering on pardoning his children because he thinks it was make them look like criminals.
The strange thing about Trump’s potential pardon for his children is that none of them have been charged with or convicted of any crimes. The law is likely coming for them, however. Earlier this week, Ivanka Trump was deposed for 5 hours over alleged price gouging at the Trump DC hotel.
Anita Kumar and Andrew Desiderio report:
“He (Trump) may argue that such preemptive pardons for his friends and family members are necessary to spare them from paying millions in legal fees to fight what he describes as witch hunts. Those up for clemency include everyone from Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to several members of his family — all people who haven’t been charged with a crime. Weighing on Trump’s mind is whether these pardons would look like an admission of guilt.”
